they aren’t compelled
to speak truthfully
they don’t need
to mean what they say
they simply don’t care
to care requires effort,
understanding and an
acceptance of responsibility
this last requirement
being especially unacceptable
this is the truth,
they mean nothing
beyond themselves
in their moment
it’s not really
good or bad
it’s not really anything
to be free of deceit
and lack of meaning,
attach to nothing
nothing
it’s your life
you understand
