Are we becoming less connected?
The junctions of travel
used to be where,
in time and space,
we gathered
to see ourselves, together,
off to some adventure.
Or, at the very least,
to somewhere other.
An airport,
a train station,
a port, we met,
unusually united
in our various quests,
in our daring to move.
We made or avoided contact,
we watched and laughed,
and wondered at
the massing weirdness of it all,
together, now become
a sea of people
staring at our hands.
